Water is one of the most affected commodities by the effects of climate change due to high temperatures and prolonged droughts. Water points and sources are disappearing, making it difficult for the Baka and Mbororo indigenous people to access clean water due to the fact that the remaining water points face scrambling between humans and animals, making the water dirty and not fit for human intake. Even if they carry the water, it necessitates boiling and filtering to reduce bacteria. Women and girls constitute the most vulnerable group when it comes to water crisis.
Lelewal opted to construct modern boreholes to give clean water to these communities at their door steps in order to reduce the family workload for women and girls and also to reduce waterborne diseases. The organization has an aim to construct many boreholes in those communities providing the neediest communities in the coming years to roll back water crisis.
